Ed Tech Philosophy
I love teaching with technology! I believe that incorporating technology is crucial to teaching, and especially so in a World Language classroom. There has never been more opportunity for students to use their language in real-world scenarios, connect with other countries and cultures, and truly become global digital citizens.
However, I believe it is important to curate technology resources not just for the sake of using technology. I strive to choose technology resources that will assist students in improving on the skills they learn in my classroom and allow them to create meaningful products using these skills. I have gotten certified in some of the programs and resources I feel are the most beneficial for myself as a teacher and for my students - you can see the badges for those certifications below!
My classroom primarily runs on a blended learning environment - combining the best parts of the traditional classroom and flipped classroom models. I have also worked with online Learning Management Systems such as Schoology and Google Classroom to bring instruction online.

Student Tech Products
Below are just a few examples of the kinds of products my students have created throughout the past academic year using a variety of technology resources.
This product was created for a course I teach called Latinos in the U.S. Students were tasked with creating a Public Service Announcement promoting their suggestion for the future political status of Puerto Rico. Their PSA needed to include five reasons why the political status they were suggesting would benefit Puerto Ricans and the U.S. as a whole. This product was created by a student using Adobe Spark.

These are some sample slides from a student project for Spanish III practicing the future tense. Students were to imagine they had won ten million dollars and detail what they will do with the money in a Google Slides presentation using the future tense.

This is one of my favorite student activities. It is a take on the commonly used Picture Dictionary. I call it a GIFtionary. Students create GIFs, moving images, using the website Brush Ninja using their current vocabulary words. They then upload their creations to a class Padlet to create a resource of images they and their classmates can review and study. This helps them remember their vocabulary terms and also lets their creativity shine!
